(II)    ?North Koel Hydroelectric Project (2x12 MW)

 

Summary and Salient Features

 

2.1               The North Koel River flows in the Western portion of Plamau district and falls in the river Sone. Plamau district is considered rain shadow area and has very few rivers.

          ?

          ?North Koel has been tapped near Kutku mainly for irrigation purposes. It is stipulated that water from the reservoir created by the proposed 64.82m High Dam will be released in a regulated manner in river North Koel so as to be picked up at Mohammadganj Barrage about 120 km. down stream, in order to feed the proposed high level canal and further down stream at Indrapuri barrage to supply water to the existing Sone Canal Systems. It has been contemplated to take advantage of the Regulated water discharge and the artificial head created by the Dam in addition to some natural head available in the river bed to generate the much needed and cheap Hydel Power

 

 

2.2       The North Koel Hydel Power Project in brief involves 2 nos. penstocks, trash racks and gates a Semi under ground power house, Tail race Tunnel, open channel 6.6/132 KV switchyard etc.

 

2.3      The power out-put from the North Koel Hydel project is proposed to be fed to the Jharkhand State Electricity Board’s 132?KV Grid sub-station at Daltonganj through about 132 KV Transmission Line 50km.

(III) Tenu-Bokaro Link Canal H.E.P. (1x1 MW)

 

 

2.1       The project area lies in Damodar Konar basin. The area is hilly terrain having coal reserve in  its viscinity and other industrial units based on coal.

 

2.2      The project site is located in Giridih District of Bihar State. The site is well connected by rail and road  system. It is located at distance of 2 KM. From Tenughat which is connected to N.H. 28 through  Tenughat-Petarbar Road and is about 7 km. From Gomia Railway Station of South Eastern Railway. A pucca roads links Tenughat and Gomia Railway station.

 

2.3      The Project has been planned to harness the power potential of existing 15 meter fall at 2.636 KM of Tenu Bokaro Link Canal. The erection of units and allied E/M works have been completed. The canal is under construction by Irrigation Department and is a part of Konar Reservoir Project.
