Indrapuri Reservoir Project (450 MW)

 

INTRODUCTION

Indrapuri Reservoir Scheme envisages the construction of 3.9 Km long and 45 m high earth dam across the river Sone connecting Kadwan (24030’15”) and Matiawan (24031’20”: 83037’30”) Villages on the right and left banks in Palamu and Rohtas districts respectively in Bihar. At Present Bansagar Project in sunder construction across the Sone river in the state of M.P. This has necessitated creation of another reservoir somewhere near Kadhwan in order to maintain on assured discharge of the Indrapuri Barrage across the Sone near Dehri-on-Sone. Apart from irrigation, there is a proposal for generation of power by utilising the head thus available at the Kadwan Dam Site.

 The village Kadwan is approachable from Bhawanathpur  (92040’30”- 83035’10”) by 8 km long road which is partly metalled and partly unmatalled (jeepable toad through jungles). As there is not bridge near by across the Sone river, the village Matiwan on the left bank is approachable via Dehri-on-Sone and its nearest important place is chutia (24032’45”, 83045’) on the right bank though the nearest railway station is Garhwa Road, the site can be approached from Dehri-on-Sone on the grand cord line of the Eastern Railway. The existing Sone barrage on the Sone near Indrapuri located 75 km. downstream of Kadwan
